Are NVME’s better for long-term storage than SSD’s?

Been having problems booting up to Windows recently so I figured it’s time for a clean install. My initial plan was to buy a 4TB external SSD solely for storage backup, but then I heard that SSD’s decay when not powered on for a long time. My new plan now is to replace my primary drive w/ a larger and better NVME and just keeping the current NVME as the backup. I was thinking about putting it in one of these: Amazon.com: SABRENT USB 3.2 Type-C Tool-Free Enclosure for M.2 PCIe NVMe and SATA SSDs (EC-SNVE) : Electronics so I can retrieve the data later. Is this a good idea?
