I’m trying to set up an LTO-6 drive for media backups. I bought a loose drive on eBay and I can’t get the drive to power on. Here’s my setup:
HPE Ultrium 6250 internal drive LSI SAS 9300-8i (it’s in IT mode) Tandberg 2.5TB / 6TB tapes ADCAUAX Mini SAS to SAS cable from Amazon (I think this might be my problem) Intel Core i9-13900K 128GB RAM Windows 11 OS
As I said, I can’t get the device to power on. The generic cable I got from Amazon doesn’t seem to want to deliver power – it’s one of those mini-SAS cables with a SATA power converter on it (I also tried a MOLEX version, to no avail).
I disassembled my LTO-4 external drive case and tried plugging the LTO-6 drive into the external drive’s power supply – no dice.
I think my choice of cable might be the problem here. Does anyone have a cable recommendation? Or is there a larger issue I’m missing? Thanks in advance for any direction you might be able to give, and if you need more info please don’t hesitate to ask!
